Bombay or also known as 'Mumbai', as we know it today, have witness to a lot of historical events, one of them was the long bubonic plague also popularly known as the 'Bombay Plague'.

The epidemic of Bombay Plague' occurred in September 1896. The first case reported was in Mandvi area by medical practitioner Acaio Gabriel Viegas credited with the discovery of the outbreak of bubonic plague in Bombay, India, in 1896.
